mybookmark ("we", "us", "our") operates the website mybookmark.in and provides book subscription and PS5 rental services in Bengaluru, India. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our website and services.

1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information you provide
- Account information: Full name, email address, phone number (WhatsApp), password (hashed and salted - we never store plain-text passwords)
- Identity verification: Government ID type (Aadhaar, driving licence, passport, voter ID, or PAN) - we collect the ID type only, not the ID number, for KYC at the time of first delivery
- Location: Your locality within Bengaluru, used to coordinate doorstep delivery
- Payment records: Plan chosen, amount paid, deposit paid, payment method (UPI), and payment status. We do not store UPI PINs, bank account numbers, or card details
- Book preferences: Titles you request, borrow, return, and swap - used to personalize recommendations
1.2 Information collected via Google Sign-In
If you sign in using Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from your Google account. We do not access your contacts, Google Drive, Gmail, or any other Google service. Your Google password is never shared with us.
1.3 Information collected automatically
- Analytics: We use Google Analytics (GA4) and Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use our website. This includes pages visited, time spent, scroll depth, clicks, device type, browser, approximate location (city-level), and referral source
- Cookies: Google Analytics and Clarity set cookies to distinguish users and sessions. These are third-party analytics cookies, not advertising cookies
- Session recordings: Microsoft Clarity may record mouse movements, clicks, and scroll behavior on our website to help us improve usability. These recordings are anonymized and do not capture keystrokes in password fields

3. Data Storage and Security
- Account data is stored in Google Sheets, secured by Google's infrastructure and access controls. Only authorized mybookmark team members have access
- Passwords are hashed using SHA-256 with a unique salt before storage - plain-text passwords are never stored or logged
- Google Sign-In users have no password stored; authentication is managed by Google's OAuth system
- Our website is served over HTTPS (SSL/TLS) to encrypt data in transit
- Payment processing is handled through UPI - we do not store or process financial credentials

- Active accounts: Data is retained as long as your account is active
- Cancelled accounts: Account data is retained for 90 days after cancellation (to process deposit refunds and handle any disputes), then deleted
- Payment records: Retained for 3 years for accounting and tax purposes
- Analytics data: Google Analytics retains data for 14 months by default; Clarity retains data for 30 days

- Access: Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
- Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information via your dashboard profile or by contacting us
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and personal data (subject to retention requirements for payment records)

7. Children's Privacy
Our Kids plan is designed for children's books, but accounts must be created by a parent or guardian who is at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us personal data without parental consent, please contact us to have it removed.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
